If you’re traveling through Nahunta, or even if you’re nearby, I highly recommend stopping at Jerry J’s. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the menu is packed with homemade Southern comfort food that keeps folks coming back.
After looking over the menu (which wasn’t easy because everything sounded delicious), I settled on the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and Southern green beans. It was one of the best fried chicken meals I’ve had in a long time. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and so juicy that it completely exceeded my expectations. The creamy mashed potatoes with rich gravy paired perfectly with the fresh-tasting green beans, making it the ultimate comfort food meal.
Paul ordered the fish and shrimp platter, and he couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. The shrimp were cooked just right, but it was the fish that really impressed him. Lightly breaded, flaky, and incredibly tender, he said next time he’d skip the shrimp altogether and order the fish platter by itself.
One thing we really appreciated is that each platter comes with your choice of two sides, plus a biscuit, Texas toast, or cornbread. It’s the kind of generous meal that leaves you full and happy. And the prices are extremely affordable.
As delicious as our lunches were, I have to admit the burgers passing by our table caught my attention. They looked absolutely incredible, and it made choosing from the menu even harder. That’s always a good sign.
Being a huge breakfast fan, I already know we’ll be making another trip back. Breakfast is served daily from 6:00 to 10:45 a.m. and features everything you could want to start your morning right. You’ll find hearty breakfast platters, sandwiches, bowls, fluffy pancakes, and plenty of other Southern favorites.
Beyond the food, what really makes Jerry J’s stand out is the warm hospitality. Everyone was welcoming, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere made us feel right at home. It’s exactly what you’d hope to find in a small-town Southern restaurant.
